EllGeo Seagon Re had its launch on the 19^th of January 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upperhill, in Nairobi, Kenya.

JW Seagon and EllGeo Re (Mauritius) Limited are well-established organisations in the insurance industry, combining among them over 50 years of proven track record and professionalism.  With the present venture (EllGeo Seagon Reinsurance Brokers Limited), these organisations are actively bringing to bear the synergies that will carry it forward in the East African region. And judging by the turnout of Insurance and reinsurance industry executives at the launch event and the feedback received, the signs are that the partnership is set to be a pertinent player in the East African region.

Addressing the guests at the event were the directors of EllGeo Re and JW Seagon, and the guest of Honour Dr Ben Kajwang – Chairperson of the African Insurance organisation, and Director and CEO at the College of Insurance in Nairobi.  After giving an overview of EllGeo Seagon Re, its directors outlined some of the goals and ambitions they have for this exciting new venture.  David Seagon – Founder and Director at JW Seagon also introduced JW Seagon and the attributes that they would bring to the partnership.  Jean Alain Francis – CEO at EllGeo Re (Mauritius) Limited, spoke about the history of EllGeo Re, and emphasised the excitement that this new opportunity presents to them, highlighting the “importance of personal as well as business relationships”.  Dr Ben Kajwang – Director and CEO at the College of Insurance in Nairobi and the Chairman of the African Insurance Organisation, shared what it meant for the region to have a new reinsurance broker and the benefits of such a partnership: “The combined value and performance of two companies will be greater than the sum of the separate individual parts”.

All in all, the Launch event was a resounding success. EllGeo Seagon Re is looking forward to meeting the future with an innovative vision and a “can-do” culture. It is clear that the market can expect big things from EllGeo Seagon Re and we look forward to following their development as they grow into a recognised and respected Re-Insurance Broker in the region.
